Sanlam General Insurance Ghana LTD is a non-life insurance company offering innovative products for Retail, SME, Corporate Pan-African, and multinational markets. Originally Beacon Insurance, which had been in the Ghanaian market since the ’80s, and was acquired in 2010 by Colina.

Participation was branded as Colina Insurance and later in 2014 rebranded as Saham Insurance, when its parent company at the time rebranded to Saham Finances headquarted in Casablanca, Morocco. The Saham Group was created through the acquisition of the Agma brokerage company in 1995, which subsequently in 2010, acquired the Colina Group, Africa’s leader for insurance present in 16 countries. In 2018, Sanlam Emerging Markets (SEM), which was a minority shareholder in Saham Finances Group, acquired 100% of Saham Finances to expand its footprints in Africa, especially Francophone Africa. The acquisition increased Sanlam Group’s footprint to 33 countries out of the 54 countries in Africa, making it the largest Pan-African financial services company, with 2 main divisions in Life.
